چکیده

This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a therapeutic vibrating mesh-type nebulizer for pulmonary delivery radioaerosols lung scintigraphy in healthy subjects. Six subjects (mean age 28.7 ± 6.2 years) inhaled 2 mL Tc-99m diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid and normal saline solution (20 mCi) via (DK010, DELBio, Taipei, Taiwan). The nebulizer’s mass median aerodynamic diameter was between 2.3 5.0 µm (3.47 0.37 µm), nebulization rate greater than 0.2 mL/min. Aerosol delivery of recombinant human DNase I: in vitro comparison of a vibrating-mesh nebulizer with a jet nebulizer.

BACKGROUND Inhaled recombinant human DNase I (rhDNase) improves clearance of visco-elastic secretions in patients with cystic fibrosis. Because of their portability, newer-generation vibrating-mesh nebulizers offer greater convenience for the patient, but their efficiency in delivering rhDNase has not been determined. METHODS We compared a newer-generation vibrating-mesh nebulizer (Omron Micr...

Pulmonary Drug Delivery Following Continuous Vibrating Mesh Nebulization and Inspiratory Synchronized Vibrating Mesh Nebulization During Noninvasive Ventilation in Healthy Volunteers.

BACKGROUND A breath-synchronized nebulization option that could potentially improve drug delivery during noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) is currently not available on single-limb circuit bilevel ventilators. The aim of this study was to compare urinary excretion of amikacin following aerosol delivery with a vibrating mesh nebulizer coupled to a single-limb circuit bilevel vent...

Diagnosis of thromboembolic disease: Combined ventilation perfusion lung scan and compression ultrasonography

The clinical management of pulmonary embolism and deep venous thrombosis of the legs are similar and requires prolonged anticoagulation therapy. The standard diagnostic approach in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism is ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) lung scan and compression ultrasonography to detect deep venous thrombosis. This retrospective study analyzed the role of V/Q lung scan an...

Spurious lung perfusion ventilation defect on planar ventilation-perfusion scan detected by SPECT imaging

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a preventable cause of morbidity and mortality which needs prompt recognition. Ventilation-perfusion (V/Q) scan is a well-established diagnostic test for evaluation of suspected PE. We report a 32-year-old woman with history of rheumatologic disease and acute dyspnea, who was referred for V/Q scintigraphy. The planar images revealed multiple mismatched defects through...

A case of severe acute exacerbation of Yokkaichi asthma treated with a vibrating mesh nebulizer

Yokkaichi asthma was one of the most common environmental pollution diseases in Japan in the 1960s and 1970s. The problem of air pollution in Yokkaichi was solved in the 1970s. However, mortality and life expectancy were still affected by the late effects of air pollution in patients with Yokkaichi asthma even in the 2000s. In this case report, we described the experience of successful treatmen...
